On 17 October 2018, 28 Team Heathrow teams will be racing United Airlines UA 883 between London Heathrow Terminal Two and Newark Liberty International. The event is aiming to raise over £100,000 for charity and will take place under the “Slipstream” sculpture at Heathrow Terminal Two.
Each of the 28 teams, comprising 13 riders per team, will be assigned a stationary indoor Wattbike and will once again be supported by Njinga Cycling on the day. Riders from each team will take turns cycling 30 minute intervals on their designated Wattbike against the clock. For more information, please read our FAQs.
The combined efforts of all of the teams will be measured against the plane in real time by Capgemini, and riders will need to cover the total distance in less time than the plane’s flight time.

In addition, there will be numerous other activities on the day as Team Heathrow aim to raise over £100,000 for The Duke Of Edinburgh’s Award and Heathrow Community Fund.
To help incentivise team fundraising efforts even further this year, United Airlines have generously donated 3 pairs of return flights to New York for 3 lucky winners randomly drawn from the top fundraising team. The winners will be announced on Friday the 19th October when fundraising officially closes and the top team is determined.
